Making the American Dream of Homeownership a Reality
FORT WASHINGTON, PA – December 2, 2015 – For first-time homebuyers, the process of buying their first house and obtaining a mortgage can seem daunting. In order to help those in the Bay area who are interested in purchasing a home for the first time, the American Dream Home Ownership Initiative – taking place December 5 in Oakland, California – organized a one-day financial education program to provide potential homebuyers with the tools and knowledge needed. Ditech Financial LLC (“Ditech”), well-known national lender and servicer of residential loans, is a Hall of Fame sponsor of the one-day program.
The initiative − led by the Touchdown Timmy Brown Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded by NFL Hall of Fame football player and former Oakland Raiders star Tim Brown − provides people with the confidence and financial education needed to purchase a home. The foundation is teaming up with Freddie Mac to help educate and assist individuals and families to become homeowners.
Timothy Walsh − Divisional Manager of Retail Lending, based in Ditech’s Costa Mesa office – is participating in the show to assist first-time homebuyers with questions and concerns about obtaining a mortgage.
“It can be a very confusing process for those who have never purchased a home,” said Walsh. “Having a 20 percent down payment handy to purchase a home can seem out of reach. However, there are products and services that make home buying possible with as little as a 3 percent down payment. With the right tools and knowledge, the experience does not have to be stressful; it can be an exciting and positive one.”
The program will address topics ranging from when to buy versus rent, to the qualifications that must be met for first-time homebuyers. Attendees will receive insights and helpful tips from Timothy Walsh and other mortgage professionals, as well as a free credit score, a personal financial assessment, an individualized action plan on steps needed to purchase a home and free enrollment to an online HomeBuyer club.
